Load Data from Local Files
There are four ways to load data from local files. They differ mainly in whether the load runs in parallel and which host holds the files. For large volumes, prefer a parallel method.
Use COPY
Load from a file or standard input. The load is serial, with all data passing through a single process on the Coordinator.
Use the file Protocol
A SynxDB protocol that loads in parallel from files on segment hosts or the coordinator host.
Use gpfdist
A parallel file server, referenced through the gpfdist protocol in CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE.
Use gpload
A wrapper over gpfdist that takes data format, external table definition, and gpfdist settings from a single configuration file.
